Ji Yun Kang studied cello in Hanyang Univ. in Korea. Soon after, she worked in Prime Philharmonic orchestra as cellist for 2 and a half years in Seoul, Korea. In 2004 she began studying baroque cello in Utrecht Conservatory with Viola de Hoog and viola da gamba with Joshua Cheatham.  She followed masterclasses with Jaap ter Linden andWieland Kuiken. She performed in the fringe concerts of Utrecht earlymusic festival 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012, and in projects of Collegium Musicum Hanyang with Zefiro Ensemble and Derek Lee Ragin. She was a participant of L’orchestra Giovanile Academia Montis Regalis in Mondovi, Italy. She was awarded HSP Huygens Scholarship 2007/2008. After she obtained her Masters Degree at Amsterdam Conservatorium in baroque cello class of Viola de Hoog, she had been worked in Hanyang Univ. as a baroque cello teacher in 2011.
Now she is enrolled in the Master’s program at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, studying with Mieneke van der Velden and Philippe Pierlot.
